Business Challenge

Working directly with one of Aston Carter’s key client, an Investment Bank across Asia Pacific, their recruitment strategy for 2014 was to focus on building their Compliance & Operations workforce with their global function based locally in Singapore.

Due to recent economic and market developments and increasing pressure from local and international regulators, volume hiring was required at a fast pace to improve the compliance platform of the bank on a global scale.

Having recently moved to a new office location with additional space and high end facilities, this new department had the capacity to target the junior level market offering the opportunity of training and development and regional exposure within an established international workforce under a 6 months contract.

Our Solution

Providing talent to this client across the region but with a hub focus in Singapore, Aston Carter was able to engage this international partnership with knowledge of this company’s performance, culture and internal processes. Aston Carter was able to provide customised recruitment solutions to their client’s needs and attract a variety of fresh and experienced professionals through a range of channels including; networking, database searches and candidate referrals, who had the right characteristics and working attitudes.

As part of the screening process for all interviewed candidates two reference checks for each individual was taken and all applicants also completed a written exam, to help certify technical abilities and ensure a high quality in the final panel of interviewees. Aston Carter was able to cater for the client running a full day in-office interviews with a panel of selected candidates to provide a well-balanced overview of available candidate from the market.

A review of the interviewed candidates after the completed interview day, Aston Carter was able to onboard over 60% of the team’s open vacancies in this recruitment drive.

Within 6 months of the engagement, the banks hiring managers were satisfied with the performance of the new hires with a majority of the candidates being converted to permanent before finishing their contracts, within their initial teams or other department teams that were also growing.

This win-win situation has been beneficial, providing gainful employment to their contractors and adding value to Aston Carter clients in the longer term. Since this project, Aston Carter has had continued success with this key client supporting their talent requirements over various functions with over 100 contractors across the banks Finance, Technology and Business Support teams.
