Director of Aston Carter Consulting
Emily Cordery is Director of Aston Carter Consulting. She is responsible for the oversight of consultancy sales, solutions and programme delivery to clients within the United Kingdom (UK).
Emily manages executive level relationships with clients as well as the engagement and development of her teams and she is passionate about supporting her clients through times of change. She is a key member of the Women@Allegis, WomenInLeadership and Women@AstonCarter networks.
Emily is Prince II Qualified and came from a strong compliance background within customer service and complaints departments before she joined Aston Carter in 2007. Upon joining, Emily held a number sales and client account management positions. Following the acquisition of Aston Carter by Allegis Group in 2011, Emily supported the expansion of the Services Business from North America to Europe. Since 2011, Emily has held a number of leadership positions including Director of Client Strategy before becoming Director of Aston Carter Consulting.
Emily’s clients within financial services range from boutique private banks to large global corporates and she strives for a partnership approach built on communication, commitment and accountability.
Emily has always been passionate about listening to her clients’ needs and in 2012 successfully delivered our first Compliance Remediation project for a large global bank. Since then Emily has organically grown the business and services capabilities and as Aston Carter Consulting became more operationally strategic, she was responsible for establishing the UK solutions and delivery function in response to client demands for regulatory transformation, risk and compliance solutions.
Emily is particularly passionate about change management and finding creative solutions to a client’s problem with an unrivalled commitment to delivery. She also enjoys developing her teams to the best of their ability and creating opportunity for her people.
Emily is originally from Christchurch, New Zealand but and has no intention to return other than to enjoy her holidays!
Head of Enterprise Risk
Graham Legge is Head of Enterprise Risk at Allegis Group. Graham supports the Aston Carter Consulting Delivery Team to ensure that any risk to the client solution and delivery is thoroughly assessed and properly mitigated.
Graham has extensive experience in enterprise risk management and management consulting, dealing with operational, project and strategic risk management in both the private and public sectors. As Director of Management Consulting at KPMG, Graham gained first-hand experience in project oversight and delivery and he has in-depth knowledge of corporate governance and strategy development within the oil and gas and financial services industries.
Graham’s experience has been built on direct experience in challenging business environments throughout Europe, South America and Africa. He thrives on being able to identify potential threats which could adversely affect a project and facilitate a successful solution to maximise the opportunity and achieve goals.
Graham holds a degree from the University of Leicester. He enjoys many hobbies in his personal time, including motorbikes and photography and even dabbles in commercial photography covering gigs and CD sleeves!
Director of Practice and Financial Operations
Darren Elton is Director of Practice and Financial Operations for Aston Carter Consulting. Darren is responsible for innovation and expanding our consulting services capabilities into new disciplines and markets. He developed our internal consulting expertise, our approach and methodology as well as our client services infrastructure.
From a Big 4 Background, Darren has a wide range of experience in audit, risk, compliance and business transformation. At EY, Darren was tasked with restructuring a large public sector financial organisation to drive efficiency and cost-savings. Following significant change to human resources, Darren’s management infrastructure team mapped existing-to-future-state reporting requirements and unified performance reporting across the organisation. Enterprise software was then implemented and dashboards developed.
At Sainsbury’s, Darren devised and implemented strategic and operational improvements across selected supplier networks to achieve sales growth, cost reduction and supply chain sustainability. In addition, he owned the deployment of greenfield online analytical processing, replacing offline and manual data analysis to support supplier contract negotiations. A focus on people engagement, thorough requirements gathering and data integrity ensured a smooth transition.
When Darren joined Allegis Group in 2013 he led a transformation programme to improve efficiencies, compliance and employee engagement before transitioning to Aston Carter Consulting.
Darren is a passionate business leader, innovator and strategist. He is experienced in building and implementing new target operating models, teams, systems and processes in pursuit of the strategic objectives.
Darren holds a degree in accounting and finance from the University of Leeds and is a Chartered Accountant (ICAS). Darren is an accomplished coach and mentor as well as an engaging public speaker and DJ!
UK Delivery Manager
Tom Roberts is the UK Delivery Manager for Aston Carter Consulting. Tom oversees programme delivery across the UK and has worked with a number of financial services organisations including Barclays, RBS, Santander and HSBC. Tom and his team ensure successful delivery against our client’s programme objectives using Aston Carter Consulting methodology and approach.
Tom comes to Aston Carter Consulting with a wealth of experience in commercial banking, financial operations and regulatory transformation at HSBC. He joined HSBC in 2006 as an Assistant to a Commercial Manager before taking on the role himself in 2008. In 2012 he moved to the City of London as a more senior Commercial Manager.
In 2014, Tom changed direction and moved into HSBC’s head office and took the role of Executive Support Manager to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The COO function was made up of a 1,000-people-strong team it was Tom’s remit to analyse customer data to be able to better serve the customer. He had oversight of the delivery of operational functions including ring-fencing, data and analytics, change management, regulatory transformation programmes, know your customer (KYC), anti-money laundering (AML) and business implementation.
In a later role as Senior Regulatory Transformation Manager, Tom was responsible for heading up the implementation of a new KYC function and a programme management office (PMO). This included building out a team of 100 consultants to deliver on the KYC function and 40 consultants to deliver on the PMO and to then remediate approximately 40,000 customers.
Tom joined Aston Carter Consulting from HSBC after a six-month sojourn travelling the world; everywhere from Alaska to New Zealand and in between!
Nisha Najran is a Delivery Lead for Aston Carter Consulting. She is responsible for the delivery of practical solutions to client projects. Nisha builds relationships with her clients to effectively and efficiently manage the success of their projects; working at the highest levels of an organisation to add value to their initiatives.
Nisha has accrued a rich experience within the financial services industry having worked at global retail and corporate banking giants. She began her career at HSBC and was quickly promoted to International Commercial Associate. In this role, Nisha became responsible for a global portfolio of clients, liaising with senior stakeholders, writing credit analysis and looking for solutions to support their business; as well as opportunities to continue to grow the portfolio. As Corporate Analyst and Business Development Manager, Nisha took over management of two of the largest portfolios at her centre. In this role, she worked closely with Relationship Directors, Senior Management and key business partners to ensure client credit and risk compliance, support with client strategy and projects within the professional community.
At Deutsche Bank Asset Management, as Associate in Client Services for Wholesale Cross-Asset Distribution, Nisha worked within a newly formed team to support the Wholesale Cross-Asset Sales team for the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland. She was responsible for actively setting up processes and infrastructure for the Client Service team. Part of her remit included collaboratively working with Compliance and Legal teams to establish a know your distributor (KYD) remediation process to ensure compliance with Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requirements.
At Aston Carter, Nisha has managed many projects within financial services. Last year, Nisha successfully delivered a large-scale anti-money laundering (AML) remediation project for a Global Bank, overseeing a 100-strong team across two locations to remediate thousands of prioritised cases across corporate clients.
More recently, Nisha is working with another Tier 1 Bank to put in place a structured team to remediate thousands of client cases in line with new regulatory standards.
Nisha is very adaptable to different environments where she is driven by supporting her clients to resolve issues and be that mechanism to highlight issues and risks as well as find solutions to overcoming challenges. Nisha holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in International Relations and Global Politics from Nottingham Trent University. While she was studying she lived in Spain for a couple of semesters where she developed a love for Salsa dancing!
Rebecca Fenlon is a Solutions Executive for Aston Carter Consulting. She is responsible for working with clients to scope services solutions to achieve client objectives. Rebecca works closely with the Delivery Team, Account Managers and Directors to provide regional support with solution design.
Prior to joining Allegis Group and Aston Carter Consulting, Rebecca worked at a Unified Talent Management SaaS company where she held multiple roles throughout her tenure, including Project Coordinator, Business Analyst and Client Solutions Consultant. This gave her experience in managing client implementations and partner resources for successful delivery.
Rebecca uses a strong partner approach to understand the business problems faced by her clients. She is expert in designing bespoke, flexible solutions to address these. She particularly enjoys the variety of her role and the ability to contribute to solving client challenges. To Rebecca, success means a happy client who has achieved their desired outcomes.
Rebecca holds a Bachelor’s degree from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Rebecca is also a major history buff, particularly in Medieval and Renaissance history!
