Job Summary

Aston Carter's Client in Vancouver is quickly growing and their Operations Controller (Cost Accounting) is looking to add a Sr Cost Accountant to support their team on a 3-6 month basis with the opportunity to become permanent. Their Accounting and Finance departments have 30+ people, while this team consists of 5 members and works very closely with Operations, Manufacturing and Engineers. The primary need has come based on the implementation of SAP Cloud (4 Hana) and the need to tailor a role to someone with strengths in Analysis, KPI Reporting and Systems. This will be a new role with the goal of partnering with Operations to establish KPI's. This will be a great opportunity for someone to tailor the role and put their stamp on it, while working with the system to ensure they are getting the most out of it. They recently implemented SAP 4 Hana and are looking to gain more from the system, the inventory module and PBC (SAP Consolidation tool).

This Accountant will be working with the Cost Controller and will be responsible to maintain accurate standard costs and evaluation of engineering masters (bill of materials) and to provide financial support and guidance to the Operations Group (Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Quality Assurance). This role is involved in investigating and analyzing operational data and related processes to determine costs associated with materials, inventory, labour and manufacturing. This role will also involve assisting with P&L analysis, problem solving, Forecasting, Budgeting and working with IT to help utilize their new tools effectively.

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
- Establish new reporting guidelines in SAP and BPC (consolidation tool) to drive operational performance
- Assisting with changes to how Stemcell allocates costs
- Setting up and reviewing standard costing for new and existing items
- Partnering with Procurement on purchasing / pricing (rebates etc)
- Partnering with Manufacturing and Engineering leaders on BOM (Bill of Materials) Reporting (costing, labor).
- Work Order Review
- Inventory review and analysis on obsolete inventory
- Assisting with the budget process
- Assist with forecasting

- CPA, CMA, CGA or "Chartered Accountant" from overseas
- Accounting or Business Degree
- 2 years post designation
- Experience working at an Accountant in Manufacturing or 2 years post public practice working in Management Accounting (Ops Support)
- Experience assisting in Forecasting and Budgeting
- Experience with SAP
- Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and hands-on approach (can go to different departments to gain information or explain financial outcomes in laments terms)
- Advanced Excel (pivots, working with large sums of data, problem solving, trace formulas, index matching, sum-ifs)
